| The Seminole Recreation Department was established in 1975 to promote sports & fitness to all members of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. We began with an outdoor basketball court and an empty field. The outside court was used for pick up basketball games and leagues and the 1st Annual Howard Tiger Memorial Basketball Tournament.
As the years passed, the Seminole Tribe grew and so did their interest in sports. The recreation department has recently been remodeled to accommodate the growth and interest in sports and fitness. We have 2 outdoor softball fields, a t-ball field, an indoor basketball court, a cardio room, a weight room, a heated swimming pool with a kiddy pool, a youth center, 2 playgrounds, and a hall of fame room.
We offer classes, leagues, and tournaments that accommodate the youth, adults, and seniors. We have hosted local, regional, and national all Indian and open tournaments at our facilities. We are the proud sponsors of local Native American individuals and teams that have won national championships, as well as members of the following organizations: Native American Sports Association, Native American Youth Organization, and North American Indigenous Games. |
